Fundraising efforts are continuing to build a Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Pottawatomie County courthouse to honor 17 area law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in this area since 1895. Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer, who is working on the memorial project, said it is “long overdue.”

Betty Baker, 57, of Prague was driving a 2007 Dodge Caravan north on U.S. 377/Oklahoma 99 about three miles south of Prague when the van struck a southbound 2009 Freightliner tractor-trailer rig just after 3 a.m., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
